We were down in Buffalo NY a couple days ago to do some shopping (take advantage of the strong Canadian dollar and good American prices) and I saw something that took me back to my childhood.
We had a country home when I was growing up in Trinidad, which meant that we also have several ducks and chickens. At one point we even have a couple pigs and goats. Let’s just say that we liked his meat natural
We used to share chores around the house since my dad worked in construction and my mom had her own business so we all basically chipped in. One of the things I was responsible for was feeding the chickens. Have you ever fed chickens? There I would be with the corn (you’ve never had good chicken till you had corn fed) and as I tossed it on the ground the chickens would just swoop to it. There were times when they would even try to grab it out of my hands
Back to Buffalo… there we were in Tops (grocery store) and this worker was coming out of the back with a shopping cart full of turkeys to stock the freezer. Just like when I was a kid with our chickens… shoppers just flocked around the poor guy, grabbing up the frozen turkeys like corn. It was funny to see how these people went crazy for the turkeys. Must have been some sort of on-the-spot special price.
Have a Great Thanksgiving!
Chris..
p.s. we celebrated ours back in October in Canada.
