No Opinion?
November 21st, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

I did it again… I missed my usual Pet Peeve Monday yesterday. Yup, just can’t seem to have enough time these days do accomplish everything I want to! I need a clone :)

Pet Peeve Tuesday?

Here’s one that grinds my axe… People who can’t seem to have or make an opinion of their own. You know, the ones who heard someone else make a comment about something and then repeats it as if it was their opinion to start with.

Parenting 101
November 17th, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

Thought I’d share this little tip this Friday morning.

With 3 girls we’re constantly dealing with then going over to friends, going to the mall or having friends over at our place. If your children live a busy life like ours do, be sure to take down phone numbers. Every time before they leave the house we get them to write down the phone number of the friend they’re going to be at. Additionally since our girls don’t have a cell phone, if they’re going to the mall  we usually ask them to give us their friend’s cell phone number. there’s always someone in the group with a cell phone.

Keep track of your children and always have a way to contact them.

Have a great weekend.

Chris..

p.s. same applies when their friends are over, we ask the friend for their home number should something happen while they’re at our place and we need to contact their parents.

Work from home Thursday?
November 16th, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

I completely forgot to make my usual work from home Wednesday post yesterday… things were a bit hectic with work.

Have you ever been prey to an online scam? You know, the ones who ask for $35.95 and in no time you’ll be earning thousands of dollars? How about the ones who ask you to pay for some material to be able to get a job with them?

At Genuinejobs.com we often get emails from jobseekers who were burned by these scams. Not just one or two times, we recently spoke to someone who lost out 4 times.

Here’s a little tip (besides never paying for a job since no employer will ask you to pay them for you to work for them) if you ever use your credit card to pay for something (product or service) you never receive, simply contact your credit card company and tell them you’d like to do a charge back. You’ll be required to complete a short form detailing what was purchased and when / if you got it or not… basically your reason for requesting the chargeback.

They will do an investigation and in most cases you’ll get the amount you got scammed, credited back to your credit card.

Don’t let these bastards get away with your money.

Chris…

Little known heroes.
November 14th, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

Over the weekend we took time to reflect on our past and pay tribute to the men and women who gallantly defended our freedom and help shape the world as I/we know it today. In Canada this solemn and special day is known as Remembrance Day and south of the boarder it’s known as Veterans Day.

I’d like to take time today to say thanks to the men and women of the Caribbean, especially my birth country of Trinidad and Tobago who stood side by side with other countries that made up the allied forces. Little is ever said about these brave men and women and even in their homeland little is known about their exploits and contributions.

Only recently have I become aware of their heroics and the special parts they all played in helping to win WWII.

Thanks!

I didn’t order shell with my eggs!
November 13th, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

You simply can’t beat a hot egg Mc Muffin (with sausage) in the am, it really seems to hit the spot :) However, it’s been a couple times now…  you get that awful sound/feeling you never want to experience. The crunch of an egg shell in the egg part of the delightful little breakfast sandwich. Your instinct kicks-in and you want to immediately spit and gag!

It’s Monday and this is my  Caron’s peeve for the day. Yep, you guessed it… this eggshell conspiracy only happens to her :(
