About 15 minutes ago as I sat down with a glass of orange juice and 2 doubles (breakfast of champions) in front of the boob-tube (my nemesis) I caught the end of an info clip about the James Bond movie series. Around the time “Dr. No” was released in England, I think it was about 1962 it’s said that it was then manufacturers and marketers started to really notice the buying power of teenagers. Around the same time there was a local Liverpool band in the studios recording their first album that started some sort of “British Invasion”. Well though I’m not a fan of the Beatles or music from that era, we all know how successful those teenage dollars made them.
The point of this post!
Look at who’s buying what when you’re looking for a niche for your at-home, online business. BTW, have you been paying attention at the amount of pregnant women and young families there are these days? Go to the mall, park, air port..everywhere (tip - stay away from the food court at the mall on the weekend - kids and strollers everywhere). All you see… people pushing buggies with little ones in them. Now there’s a huge freaking target market. Now take a closer look… yep, mom and dad are well dressed in the latest fashions and the buggy they’re pushing. Yup, designer, very trendy and expensive looking. One more observation - more men (they probably took a page from my book) are actively involved with children. You see them all over the place pushing buggies, with their little man-diaper bag etc!
Enough.. time for me to go design some custom soothers/pacifiers for your newborns

It’s a long weekend here in Canada and most people are gardening, going up to the cottage, gathering with friends for beverages or going to parks where there’s usually fireworks displays. For those of you who are into the whole fireworks thing, here’s a short video you’ll enjoy.
FYI.
In Canada, the celebration of Victoria Day occurs every year on Monday, prior to May 25th. It is the official celebration in Canada of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. Victoria Day was established as a holiday in Canada West (Now Ontario) in 1845, and became a national holiday in 1901. Before Victoria Day became a national Holiday, people had celebrated Empire Day , beginning in the 1890s as Victoria approached her Diamond jubilee in 1897.
Victoria, queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and empress of India was born on 24 May 1819. She ascended the throne after the death of her uncle George IV in 1837 when she was only 18. She ruled until her death in 1901 when her son Edward the VII became king of England.
