So what do you do when you work from home, have one family car and it’s gone most of the time with your wife to work? Basically you’re stuck at home working or dealing with 3 teenage girls who just learned mastered the art of arguing about everything.
Every spring I spend a great deal of time making our back yard into a mini retreat and this year I’ve finally started to put some use to it. I started to read! I grab a tea or coffee which I think I’m now addicted to, a book and iPod and catch-up on some reading. The good thing is most 9-5ers are out at work during the week, so my attention to the book I reading does not have to compete with the sounds of lawn mowers and weedwackers.
So what are you telecommuters reading this summer?

As mentioned in a previous post it was taking me forever to get through “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss, but I can now say that I’ve gone through every page and made tons of notes. I plan on reading it again in 2 weeks, so I can really digest it’s amazing content.
Right now I’m reading “Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income” by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett which I saw Yaro Starak recommend on his blog a couple months ago. My first impression was.. “I already know this stuff” but after the first 60 pages or so, I was captivated. I already knew what they were saying in the first 1/3 of the book since I’ve been blogging for a couple years now, but the chapter on “writing” is pure gold. Even for a seasoned blogger! If you’re considering exploring blogging or bloggig to make some money, this is a must read. It takes you by the hand and show you exactly what you need to do, step by step! Yes, a total guide for the beginner and blogging veteran alike.
The other books in the pic above..
Nazi Anti-Semitism by Philippe Burrin. According to the brief intro I read, it’s supposed to try and explain German Nazi policy and forced emigration to extermination of the Jews. Hopefully it can help me better understand Nazi Germany’s treatment of the Jews. A subject that’s always interest me.
The Woman’s Advantage by Mary Cantando. Basically 20 women entrepreneurs give their input on what it takes to survive and be successful from a woman’s standpoint. Can’t wait to dig into this one. I’ll update you later in the summer with my views of this book.
Landing Page Optimization by Tim Ash. Seems everyone’s an expert on all things relating to internet marketing and making money online. Let’s hope this one is not just hype as so many ebooks and free reports. Hopefully I can get some insight on landing pages, since my goal for the 2nd half of the year is to play around with some affiliate marketing through pay per click advertising. I’ll give you an update on this book later in the summer as well.
Do you have any books you’d like to recommend? Leave me a comment!
P.S. my year is divded into “before summer and after summer” incase you’re wondering what I meant when Is said 2nd half of the year above.
