These are just some of the excuses we get when we insist that our girls wear their helmet when biking. Saw a mom and daughter (I assume) riding their bikes as I drove the girls to camp this morning, on the campus of Mc Master university. By the time we made the drive around the buildings and to the parking lot where I drop off the girls I could see the mom securing the bikes to one of the bicycle parking areas. After I drove off it occurred to me that the girl was wearing a helmet and the mom wasn’t when I saw them riding. I guess she assumed only the child could get hurt if she got into an accident?

What kind of example are we constantly setting as adults. Wear your helmet, but I wont! I wonder why it was made law that you wear a helmet in Ontario when riding? Shame on you mom! Then not even 10 minutes after seeing this, there again… this time it was a dad at the four way stop. His child was secured in his/her car seat, all strapped in nice and secure. Yet pops didn’t even think it was necessary to buckle up.
