Career and making money online weekend tip.
August 24th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Slap on the BBQ sauce, I’m cooked well-done. Spent all day yesterday in blistering heat watching our girls participate in the “Cliff Marshall Soccer Tournament”. It was very hot, humid and overall very uncomfortable. I can only imagine how hard it was for the girls on the field. Tehya and Indy both made it to the quarter finals with their teams, but lost their games and are not playing in the semis today. Coaching, ref calls and the heat contributed to their halt in the event. Well done ladies! Hopefully next year I can make the time and coach you guys to the overall championship.

Couple tips to leave you with…

Tip 1. Great Career Site.

I listened to an interview with Jack Humphrey and Eve Tahmincioglu earlier this morning and it led me to Eve Tahmincioglu’s website Careerdiva.net. I won’t bore you with why you should be tuning into what Eve writes in her blog. You can check it  for yourself at: Careerdiva.net

Tip 2. Making money online from affiliate programs.

Don’t be fooled by the idiotic pic (flava flav) when you get to the site (top right), this fella is the real deal. I was introduced to this blog a week back and I’m amazed at how much this guy is sharing with his readers. As I mentioned in previous posts, people who are successful in affiliate marketing are very secretive and never share anything worthwhile with anyone. Yea, they claim to do so on their blogs, but in reality they don’t.

Check out http://www.nickycakes.com. You can thank me later! Be sure to bookmark this site and dig through the tons of amazing content Cakes shares with his readers.

Absolutely Brilliant… take on life.
July 16th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Please bear with me, it’s a bit long. I got this via email from a friend yesterday and I thought I’d share it with you all…

IF YOU DON’T READ THIS TO THE VERY END, YOU HAVE LOST A DAY IN YOUR LIFE. AND WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, DO AS I AM DOING AND SEND IT ON.

George Carlin’s Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m four and a half!’ You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key .

You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m gonna be 16!’ You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80’s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; ‘I Was JUST 92.’

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. ‘I’m 100 and a half!’
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay ‘them.’

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’ And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10.Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

And if you don’t send this to at least 8 people - who cares? But do share this with someone. We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

Edit (July 17). I received an email from a reader that pointed out:

This is good advice, but George Carlin is not the author. This is part of comedian Larry Miller’s act. He also included part of it in his 1998 book. Carlin actually ahbored the evolution of Internet humor. All to often, rantings, jokes and essays that were attributed to Carlin were below the standard he set for himself. He even posted on his website that “it’s embarrassing to see my {Carlin} name on it.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know Brandi.

Can you career stand the test of a weak economy?
April 29th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Standing the Test of a Weak Economy

Through months and months of an unstable economy, the ability to find a desired position has become a battle in its own.  Millions are seeking new jobs and unfortunately, only a couple thousand are available.  There has been an unbalanced state in our work industry for quite some time.  The dreaded word “recession,” has been on tips of the tongues of many, but few have the courage and audacity to label our current economic status as a “recession.”  For those of us who are, realists, and are able to take what is given to us and turn it into something we desire, the term “recession,” has no affect.  Or does it?

Recession has the ability to take the jobs that we have worked for many years and deteriorate its demand within minutes.  The jobs that we have held on to and respected for many years are now the cutbacks on many lists of various companies.  What are we left to do? Although, the thought of re-training ourselves in a different work field is, for some, an impossible task, it is indeed the best way to have a recession-proof career; a career that is not taken down by the rollercoaster ride provided by the economy. We have the option to re-train ourselves and participate in work industries that will allow us to continue providing for our families, loved ones and dependents (that includes our beloved pets) without having to sacrifice our lifestyle that we have grown use to.  There are a variety of sources that have been able to compile a list of work industries that have been recently studied and categorized as “recession-proof.”

According to Yahoo, the Energy industry is in the bright spot for recession proof careers.  They state that this industry is one that is not only on the move, but also provides various sectors to work in.  The energy industry includes gas and oil, but also alternative energy and even nuclear energy.  With this element being in such high demand and debate within the U.S., it is almost impossible to be affected by the economy.

The growth of children in k-12th grade has lead sources to believe that Education is also recession proof, as the need for teachers in extraordinarily high.  According to the National Center for Education Statistics, over the next eight years there will be a demand for 2.8 million teachers.

Of course, the demands of the Health Care industry will continue to grow rapidly, as it is currently the dominant field in the 30 fastest growing job areas.  These positions are so much in demand that many Health Care facilities in need of filling these positions, have offered sign-on bonuses, continuing education offers and are even covering relocating expenses.

Due to national issues, the demand for Security will also be increasing, whether at the airports or at U.S. borders.  This is a field that is looking extremely promising for the next years to come.  According to the Defense and Homeland Security departments, they will need to fill over 83,000jobs within the next two years.

Will you let recession control your lifestyle?

Top ten occupations increasing in both growth and demand.
April 11th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Job Outlook

The job market is an ever-changing market. It has currently evolved into a service market, which means that all of our businesses are service based oppose to product based. This has occurred due to the demands in our current work force. The up and coming jobs and titles are those in the field of services. The product market has diminished to a slim line, and only the established will continue to succeed, with the exception of a few new innovative product businesses. According to statistics, the job market is on the rise for hiring new applicants, due to its strong sectors. By 2014, it will increase by 18.9 million. Therefore, those with the proper training and/or education will have a great choice of opportunities and position titles. These growths are especially expected in the health and technology industries. Here are the top ten occupations increasing in both growth and demand:

1.Home Health Aides - http://www.iseek.org/sv/Careers?id=13000:100100

2.Network Systems Analysts - http://www.careervoyages.gov/OOH/4yr_OOH151081_content.html

3.Medical Assistants - http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos164.htm

4.Physicians Assistants - http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos081.htm

5.Computer Software Engineers - http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos267.htm

6.Physical Therapist - http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos080.htm

7.Dental Hygienists - http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos097.htm

8.Dental Assistants - http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos163.htm

9.Personal Care Aides - http://www.iseek.org/sv/Careers?id=13000:100404

10.Data Communications Analysts - http://www.iseek.org/sv/Careers?id=13000:100137

Therefore, if you are currently unsatisfied with your career path and its lack of advancement, consider one of the above occupations for both security and high wages.

Will you be the last one standing?
March 20th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

My new favorite show is one called “Last Man Standing“. I came across the last 20 mins of an episode about 3 weeks ago on The Discovery Channel and though it’s a reality show (I know I usually hate that stuff), this one is not too bad. I guess it’s my luck to only catch the last 20 minutes or so for the 3 episodes I seen so far, but this week had the fellas running down a mountain (looked like somewhere in South America) with a huge piece of ice strapped to their backs. What makes this even more difficult, is the fact that they’re high in the mountains, where breathing is very difficult.

The athletes get the chance to train with the locals prior to each event (They travel the world looking for ancient endurance sports) so they get a bit of experience before each event. Then they’re placed on teams with locals and compete for points.

As I watched this week’s episode, I made some comparisons to everyday netpreneur life. This is a constant challenge, the best you can do is associate, peek from behind the monitors, or be trained by someone who’s already doing this with success. Kinda like how the athletes on the show get some training from the locals who’s been doing that event all their lives, before having to do the actual event for points. But even after the training they receive they still have to go out there and perform the task. Keep in mind that you can only learn so much in one week, so it’s learn-as-you-go attitude you must develop and implement.

To survie as a netpreneur you must be willing to:

- learn from others - FAST! Associate yourself with people who you can learn from (mentors, communities, ezines, blogs etc)
- adapt to new things

- be a leader… don’t wait for others to doing something and then.. copy or follow

- work hard at it.
This week’s winner was not the strongest runner, but he was persistent and never gave up. he really took in what he was taught by his trainer and stuck to his game plan. Maybe we can all learn something from this!

Here’s a video clip of the show.
