Simple steps to protect you from online work at home scams.
May 5th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Technology has offered a lot of positive benefits to mankind. But there is a certain breed of people who manipulate the advancement of technology to their menacing requirements.

Internet has revolutionizes the way the world works. It has made the world a global village and affected greatly the way the world does its business. This powerful tool if in wrong hands brings negativity-the online scams.

As more and more people prefer to work from home, certain people make use of their aspirations to their advantage and cheat them! No one can ask them to change and be honest. It is on our part to verify everything and do not fall a prey to those online scams.

Here are some valuable tips to avoid work at home online scams.

- Credible contact information is very crucial when dealing on the Internet. Before deciding to work for/doing business with someone on the Internet ensure that they provide credible contact information. If anyone refuses to reveal his or her contact information you should get the clue. Check whether they have a proper website with portfolio and clients list. A well-established web domain is more credible than just a generic email id.

- Do not buy exaggerated promises. If someone promises that you could be a millionaire overnight, just be practical and do not go for it. When dealing on the Internet you should really be cautious about these kind of false promises.

- Nothing comes free. This is very true. So keep this fact in mind when dealing online. If someone promises to offer you thousands of dollars for a simple work it is highly probable that it might be a scam. Look for offers that guarantee remuneration in proportion to the work required.

- Another pitfall that work-from-home presents is requirement of some initial payment or investment from you. Actually a buyer should pay an upfront to a service provider at the beginning of a project. Instead if a buyer demands an initial investment or fee from you, you better watch it around!

- Make use of Internet to avoid work at home online scams. Discussion forums are the best way to get your apprehensions clarified. You can discuss about a particular business entity or a buyer with people actually working for them. Their feedback will give an idea about the credibility and reputation of the concerned buyer. Look for whether reviews are available about the employer that you intend to work for.

- When dealing on Internet, before agreeing to something, you have to be clear about all the terms and conditions involved.

- Before agreeing to work online for somebody make sure that you both agree to an applicable mode of safe money transaction.

To avoid work at home online scams work for people who offer credible contact information and who offer real work and not exaggerated false promises.

Join the ranks of web workers making money online.
June 7th, 2007 by Chris De La Rosa

There are many different ways to make money online these days, depending on your experience, skills and how much time you have available. If you are sick of working for other people, the unending rat race and being stuck in rush hour traffic, working from home could be ideal for you. It is a bad idea to abandon your job and immediately try to set up a company because anything poorly planned is almost bound to fail. Take your time in thinking about exactly what you want to do.

Ways to make money online include having an online store, using affiliate programs, having a website which requires membership and anything else you can think of. You know what your own skills are. Let me give you an example. If you know a lot about tennis, you might think about setting up an online store (or even a store on Ebay) to sell tennis equipment. If you are passionate about the sport, that will show through in your website, store layout, any articles you put on your website and in the way you answer inquiries from customers. If you decide to sell tennis equipment and racquets without knowing much about the subject, your lack of knowledge will show through and potential customers will mistrust you! Another thing to bear in mind, especially when running an online store, is that you should stick to one thing! If you want to buy a printer, are you more likely to visit a store that specializes in computer-related goods or one that sells a strange mixture of printers, ethnic jewelry, foodstuffs and comic books? It goes without saying that, as a consumer, you will have more faith in the one specializing in one type of product.

There are plenty of opportunities out there right now because of the way in which technology is improving and because so many people use the internet now, to find information, entertain themselves and buy products. Ebay is the world’s largest online store and it is easy and cheap to advertise products on there. You can even set up your own store. An advantage of having an Ebay store (as well as being able to advertise your wares cheaply) is that once someone views one of your items, they will see everything else in your store and might end up buying more from you than they had intended.

You should also be quite careful when thinking about ways to make money online. There are plenty of scams out there. Any genuine company recruiting online will not ask you to pay to get their information. If you want to sell affiliate products (meaning you advertise other companies’ goods on your website to get commission on sales), you should not have to pay for the privilege.

Other ways to make a living from the comfort of your own home include doing online surveys, selling services (some companies pay for articles or blogs) or setting up a site providing a service for which you charge a membership fee.

The best way to begin is to think about exactly what skills you have (remember, you can learn new ones online for free!) and think about what interests you the most. Then check out other websites to see what other people are doing or selling. A home business usually takes a while to get off the ground so don’t give up your other job until it really gets going!

Work from home Thursday?
November 16th, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

I completely forgot to make my usual work from home Wednesday post yesterday… things were a bit hectic with work.

Have you ever been prey to an online scam? You know, the ones who ask for $35.95 and in no time you’ll be earning thousands of dollars? How about the ones who ask you to pay for some material to be able to get a job with them?

At Genuinejobs.com we often get emails from jobseekers who were burned by these scams. Not just one or two times, we recently spoke to someone who lost out 4 times.

Here’s a little tip (besides never paying for a job since no employer will ask you to pay them for you to work for them) if you ever use your credit card to pay for something (product or service) you never receive, simply contact your credit card company and tell them you’d like to do a charge back. You’ll be required to complete a short form detailing what was purchased and when / if you got it or not… basically your reason for requesting the chargeback.

They will do an investigation and in most cases you’ll get the amount you got scammed, credited back to your credit card.

Don’t let these bastards get away with your money.

Chris…
