This is not just for making money online, but can should be used in everyday life. Surround yourself with people in your field or those you can learn from. This weekend is Affiliate Summit East and though I’m not there personally (bad planning and I’ve used-up my travel funds for the year), I plan on being at the next event in Vegas.

Why is it important to surround yourself with people in the same field? Network, spy and steal ideas.. yup I said steal. I’m not going to sugar-coat it. In my case, I’ve started to really push the affiliate side of my online business, so I’m eager to know what the “Top Cats” in affiliate marketing are doing to accumulate those $100,000 cheques on a monthly basis. Making money with affiliate programs is very secretive, since the guys who are successful are very selective in what they speak about. But I’m sure if I were there in person in Boston I’d already have a few ideas. Ideas picked from the head of the “Top Cats”, without them even knowing. I’m the ninja of affiliate marketing

So what am I doing since I’m not in Boston today?

Baked some cupcakes earlier…(while I was catching up on the blogs of the affiliates that are in Boston)

Yes, that’s a pizza tray I had them cooling on, I was a bit too lazy to go down to the basement to get the cooling rack we have.

Now I making dinner… (still a couple hrs to go - yup that’s my secret spice mix on those rib-er-rinos)

Over the years I’ve been asked that question about 500 times. No freaking joke! Then there’s the time you’re asked what you do and as soon as the word “Internet” leaves your mouth and the nano second it takes to reach the ears of the person asking you, it translates to ” I have a porn site”! It’s a common misconception that people who make money online do so with the help of nudity or some sort of fetish.

I won’t kid you.. I wish I did have a skin site.. I’m sure they make tons of money. But that’s just not my thing!

So how do I make money online? I started off doing support and website management for several top marketers and massive websites. These days my focus is building a network or telecommuting websites with solid and fresh content on a daily basis. Similar to this blog, I want people to have a reason to click onto my websites as part of their daily routine. These sites are then funded by the ads you see in certain locations.

The other part of my money making quest deals with being a part time affiliate marketer. There’s tons of people making the kinda cash that makes one sick just looking at the cheques they cash every month. I’m talking money most people work years for and never see… $xxx,000 - a MONTH! I kid you not!

So if you’re looking for a job you can do from home, please consider that there’s a lot of money to be made in affiliate marketing and it should be one of the options you explore. If you need any help getting started, leave me a comment.

I think the next two days I’ll do something I’ve not done in years… try to stay away from”work”. Not only am I drained from getting the WFHMarket.com website launched, there’s tons of little things around the house that’s been neglected for too long.
With our harsh winters, I’ve got to take advantage of the warm, beautiful days and do some painting, gardening etc. I absolutely hate the cold and will not dare step outside to attempt any sort of work around the house. Hopefully I can get all achieved in the next few days, so I can get back to working. Summer months SUCK for making money on the internet, but if you get things organized for the fall… it’s smooth sailing to the bank!

So there’s my little tip.. build and prepare now, for the cooler months.

It’s almost impossible to get a good domain today, unless you’re very lucky or creative. Whenever it’s time for me to register a new domain for an idea I have, I usually hit the thesaurus for much needed help in finding variations of the name I want to use. Speaking about creative… I’m working on a new Cruise blog which I hoping to launch within the next 3 months and the domain I got for it is, www.knotsNboats.com. Creative huh!

Next time you register a domain name, please pay close attention so you don’t end up with a domain that sounds totally different than what you had in mind.

It’s amazing how the Internet is helping many of us make a living. Some more so than the others… with their mega affiliate cheques they cash in each month. There are no boundaries at this point and you’re only limited as you make it. I was reading John Chow’s blog this morning and came across a guest post by a fella called Mike Henry and how he’s using an event and his love for blogging to generate income. I guess he’s coping what another fella did about 4 years ago.

Basically Mike is traveling in China and blogging about everything to do with the upcoming Summer Olympics in Beijing and making money by placing affiliate ads on his blog. I’m sure you’re probably thinking what event you can jump on and start blogging Hey, I’m already considering doing one on the next world cup of soccer in 2010, in South Africa. I love football, want to travel to SA and if it means extra income - SIGN ME UP!
