How to get back on track after a long weekend off.
October 14th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

For those of us in Canada it means back to work this morning after a 3 day weekend. Yesterday was our designated day for giving thanks and spending time with family and friends around the dinner table. We didn’t do anything yesterday, but we did do the turkey thing on Sunday.
Some pics…

Had to take a shot of this “burning” tree. For those of you in Hamilton, it’s planted in the little garden directly in front of St Joes hospital. I was lucky to have my camera when I went to get Caron from work on Sunday.

Every year I try to make at least one dish that we don’t normally eat… just to try something new and different. So happened this yr it was asparagus. YUM! Don’t knock the Gus!

Now for the star of the show…

So just how do you get back on track after a 3 day weekend? I have no clue. The only time I really take off work for more than a couple hrs is when I sleep at night or when we go on vacation. And even on vacation I lug my laptop with us or hit an internet cafe or 2 to check on things.

So what did I have on the actual Thanksgiving day? Combo plate #5..

Don’t forget to pack the antacid!

Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don’t unravel.  Author Unknown

The north will be meeting the south today as we celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada. When you combine the normal fixings for a (north) Canadian Thanksgivng (Turkey, cranberry, stuffing etc) and you mix in some Caribbean (South) cusine you have the ingredients for some serious heartburn :(  Hey… but a what a tasty spread it’ll be.

As we gather with family and firends today, I’d like to wish everyone a happy and tasty Thanksgiving.

NOPE! I didn’t forget it’s Pet Peeve Monday!  Why do most people only cook turkey on Thanksgiving, Easter or Christmas? Is it law that you can’t  roast the BIG Bird any other time ? And what about the few of us who DON’T like turkey… can we not have a thanksgiving with some mouth-watering  prime rib?

Gotta go wake my girls…. it’s time to stick the “fowl” in the oven and the little cooks they are, they love to help out.

Have a great Thanksgiving Canada!
