Maybe you don’t believe that this global warming thing is serious (I’ve seen many arguments by people who believe and those who don’t) or you’re just to preoccupied with other things to give it much care.
Tehya our middle daughter is on her own little mission to do what she can to help save the planet (funny how much teachers can influence children), so today she wants us to observe the “Earth Hour”. For those of you who’ve not heard about “Earth Hour” turn on your TV on the hour to any news channel. Basically the organizers are asking everyone to turn of their lights at 8.00 pm today. I guess this is supposed to symbolize that we can all take some action against global warming.
Did you know?
If all households make it a practice to turn off non-essential lighting and unplug electrical devices on standby (battery chargers, computers, home entertainment systems, etc) we could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the million of tonnes per year?
Here’s you can show you care today…
Register for Earth Hour. Visit www.wwf.ca/earthhour and commit to turning off your lights.
Turn off your non-essential lights. Change incandescent light bulbs for energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Take electrical devices off standby. Devices in standby mode continue to consume power even when they are turned off.
Refrain from using the dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer during Eart Hour.
Spread the word about Earth Hour.
Even if you’re not convinced about the seriousness about Global Warming, all it takes is 1 hour today. Here’s a little music to get you in the mood.
