Longtime readers would know that I used to make a post every Monday, called the “Pet Peeve Monday” post. After a while it basically sounded like me bitchin so i took a break from such posts. However I feel I’ll have to go back to the crates and resurrect my peeve posts! Too long have bull shit gone by without me venting or pointing it out to the masses.
Pet Peeve Monday!
So I called our cable company this morning since I noticed a new station in their line-up that is blocked from us. Setanta sports, which carries tons of football (soccer) matches from Europe. If I do have a weakness for the boob tube, watching football must be it! I mentioned that I noticed that their line-up now included Setanta and I’m calling to inquire if I could get a preview of this channel before I purchased the package. “NO, we had a free preview about a month ago”.
Did you send me an email, letter in the mail, anything at all letting viewers know about this free preview? Well, NO! We did send you a message via your digital box. WTF? I had no clue what she meant. When they included phone service, then sent me at least 5 letters in the mail, about the new service. When they started their internet service, YUP! 5 more letters in the mail. Just about every month we get their promotional stuff, plus the garbage they include with every bill they send. They now have this new channel which costs $15/month, had a free preview 2 months ago and never sent one letter.
Now don’t get me wrong! I don’t want or expect anything for free. My peeve is that I cannot say cancel my cable, I’d prefer to change cable company. We have no CHOICE what cable company we subscribe to! Phone I can choose, Hydro I can choose, Gas I can choose, cell phone I can choose. Just about every service I have a choice, but not cable!
This is pure bull shit! I should be able to choose which cable company gets to feed me signals to the boob tube!
I can live without tv (as long as my precious internet never leaves me for another) but when you have 3 children who need their daily fix, it’s not so easy to cancel the service.
