Bite off more than you can chew, then chew it.

Yesterday it was Tehya’s 5th soccer game of the season and once again her team devastated the competition. After what seemed like a torrential downpour, with rain drops the size that can fill a bucket in seconds, the game kicked off and they never looked back. After the first half they were already up by 3 and by the end whistle the score was 7-1 I think. I lost track after the 4th goal.

The point of this post, other than being a proud dad boasting about his daughter’s victory…

Tehya had not played soccer in over 7 years and this year she decided she wanted to play after going to watch her sister’s games every season. I had my concerns when she insisted on registering, since I knew she’d be placed on a team with girls that’s been playing all their life, facing girls who’s full of experience. I doubted if Tehya even remembered how to take a throw-in or knew anything about positions etc. In my mind she was biting off more than she could chew!

I guess she showed me! With that don’t-give-up drive and her determination to excel at whatever she set her sights on, she’s already proved that she’s as good or even better than the girls with years-more experience.

What can we learn from Tehya? Don’t be afraid to try new things (or old things that you may think you can no longer do) and go in with the attitude that you will not fail, even if you lack experience.

Before I go…

I came across this video on another blog this morning and I’d like to know your thoughts on it. Is this funny or are we taking comedy to a new level when we have toddlers… watch the clip, you’ll see what I mean.

BTW, it was Ella Williams who said “Bite off more than you can chew, then chew it.”
