Staying focused during this busy holiday season.
December 13th, 2006 by Chris De La Rosa

Here are 4 tips to help you stay more focused…. it’s Work From Home Wednesday!

Having well defined goals. I can’t stress the importance of this too much. Having goals which are well defined along good guidelines is key. I’ve found writing my goals down really helps. Whenever I get distracted, I read my goals and I’m reminded of what I am trying to do and why.

Breaking things into bite sized chunks. Having broad high level goals are good but having an actionable plan is essential. A plan can identify how you can get from where you are to where you want go. Breaking goals into smaller actionable chunks (tasks) is great - it gives me motivation to start and allows me to get things done in one sitting.

Prioritising constantly. To figure out which task I should be working on, I prioritise constantly. Some tasks are more important than others. Some tasks are more urgent than others. I’ve found that working on urgent tasks followed by tasks which have the greatest impact to work well for me - urgent tasks allow me to get things done on time and important tasks allow me to maximise the benefits I receive.
Having positive patterns in my routine. I’ve found having good habits and positive patterns to be instrumental. At the moment, I can consistently get more done. As these patterns continue to establish into a routine, I’m finding that I can better judge the periods of the day in which I really need to focus and work.

I appreciate the advice regarding being attentive to detail when responding to work from home jobs. I am having a problem finding one, and I need one FAST! I am the type of person that is likely to work around the clock, if working from home. I am a Contract Administrator. I haven’t seen any postings looking for people to do this work. So, I am willing to commit to another line of work and will accept work in another field. How do I approach sending my resume? Do I create a new one for each job or send my current resume which does clearly demonstrate I have skills that can be applied to many arenas, at least I think it does. I am plum broke. I only had money to buy soap to eat three days ago and could only afford six cans. This means, the food will soon be gone. I can work and don’t want to go on welfare just to eat. So, what do I do to find something as soon as possible when I can’t even find something in my field that is work at home. I am also looking for traditional jobs. I will take whatever comes first. Please help.

I have recently signed up as a Distributor for Mia Bella Candles. I have tried many of the different “work from home” distributors sites, and to be honest most of them suck. No organization, issues with products; not enough, too much, deliveries, discontinued. You name it. They were all free to try so all it really cost me was time, but I feel my time is worth money. Mia Bella offers wonderful products, a simple line, samples and tons of support. I was hooked after I received my first sample. There are several ways in which to sell. I have signed up for the candle of the month distributor plan, which costs me $39.99, but I have already sold most of it off. I am off from my “day job” today and will be making rounds to my friends, family and neighbors with sample scents in hand. The smell and sell routine is the greatest! Check it out. This one’s a hit. I really didn’t care for the 39.99 auto ship, but at least I have genuine products, brochures and samples to help recoup that cost. This offer is open only to residents of the US and Canada.
