“Ooooh they have a new menu” Caron said after we were seated. My sister and her fiance were visiting (him for the 1st time in Canada) so we went out for a late dinner on Saturday. The first place we went to had a wait time of over 1.5 hrs for a table. We were not going to sit there for that long to get a table.. the steaks are good, but 1.5hrs? Nah!
We went up the street to another joint where we would normally go sometimes for lunch. The wait was only 10 mins, and the Italian food there was always good.
We went through this new looking menu and decided on items we’ve had before. It really peeves me when good things are changed for no reason. When our meals arrived we could tell that not only did the menu (actual book) change, so did the food itself. Hear me out.. the items on the menu was exactly how they were on the old menu. Same descriptions. Except when they arrived the taste was not the same.
The usual fresh-out-of-the-oven bun tasted a bit like sour-dough (nasty) and the pasta we ordered lacked any real tase, plus the sauce was almost brown (with a hint of red). Must be those new and improved brown tomatos they used The ones Nasa been developing on the spacestation…
Don’t change a good thing…or at least, give us some warning before we order. We’ve not only changed the appearance of the menu but played around with the usual great taste.
My Monday pet peeve.
