Gone Fishing!
July 4th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

I think the next two days I’ll do something I’ve not done in years… try to stay away from”work”. Not only am I drained from getting the WFHMarket.com website launched, there’s tons of little things around the house that’s been neglected for too long.
With our harsh winters, I’ve got to take advantage of the warm, beautiful days and do some painting, gardening etc. I absolutely hate the cold and will not dare step outside to attempt any sort of work around the house. Hopefully I can get all achieved in the next few days, so I can get back to working. Summer months SUCK for making money on the internet, but if you get things organized for the fall… it’s smooth sailing to the bank!

So there’s my little tip.. build and prepare now, for the cooler months.

Before I go for the night (Tehya is hosting this mega party and there’s tons of girls waiting for me to get the tiki torches lit in the back yard - don’t wanna piss off the whiny teenage girls) I wanted to…

Say Happy 4th July to all our great American friends. And remind you that midnight tonight the free t-Shirt contest come to an end. Don’t forget to enter your name!

Comprehensive career site that focuses on working from home.
July 3rd, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

So what’s been keeping me so busy the last 3 weeks, you ask? A new career website dedicated to working from home, including a vacant jobs area, a work from home discussion forum and a blog about telecommuting. We officially opened the doors on July 1 and we’ve already seen over 520 registered users. But here’s the thing… we’ve not made this public yet with any sort of formal announcement.

This post is the first time we’re making it known that we launched this new career related website. I just hope our servers can cope when word hits the streets that we have an exciting new work at home dedicated website.

The Serious Jobseeker\'s Best Friend

So what’s the url? Http://www.WFHMarket.com As you hit the main page, watch the “How to use WFHMarket” video. it will get you up to speed in a few minutes. Rather than me trying to explain how to best use this new career resource.

Take a few minutes to see what WFHMarket.com can offer you and your career.

Pack the cooler, we’re heading to the beach. It’s Canada Day!
July 1st, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

On June 20, 1868, a proclamation signed by the Governor General, Lord Monck, called upon all Her Majesty’s loving subjects throughout Canada to join in the celebration of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st.

The July 1 holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day.

There is no record of organized ceremonies after this first anniversary, except for the 50th anniversary of Confederation in 1917, at which time the new Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings, under construction, was dedicated as a memorial to the Fathers of Confederation and to the valour of Canadians fighting in the First World War in Europe.

The next celebration was held in 1927 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Confederation. It was highlighted by the laying of the cornerstone by the Governor General of the Confederation Building on Wellington Street and the inauguration of the Carillon in the Peace Tower.

Since 1958, the government has arranged for an annual observance of Canada’s national day with the Secretary of State of Canada in charge of the coordination. The format provided for a Trooping the Colours ceremony on the lawn of Parliament Hill in the afternoon, a sunset ceremony in the evening followed by a mass band concert and fireworks display.

A little history lesson for you :)

We’re a one-car family so with Caron working today, we can’t hit one of the beaches (lakes) to enjoy the smell of the open air BBQ and the feel of that freezing water hit your body. Plus It’s my goal this week to get stuff around the house completed. Maybe tonight I’ll crack open the new bottle of fancy rum Caron brought back for me from her trip and hit the hot tub with some Island music blasting from the speakers. I know our girls probably have plans to go to one of the fireworks displays locally.

Have fun, it’s Canada Day!

Why not appreciate and learn rather than be envious?
June 30th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Envy is a symptom of lack of appreciation of our own uniqueness and self worth. Each of us has something to give that no one else has.”

We’re just back from Tehya’s soccer game and as it stands they’re still unbeaten for the season. Midway through the first half, after Tehya’s team went up by a goal, one could clearly see that the coach from the opposing team was having a fit. Then (I’ve never seen this before) he got the ref to stop play and they started to talk. Then the ref got on his cell phone (yep, during the game) to call, what we later found out was the head league official.

Turns out this team was also tied with “our” team for first place, but they were down by a goal and this coach was looking for a way to get out of loosing the match. Here his team was down and rather than see how his team were loosing and how he could try and mount a comeback.. he tried to get the game called on some sort of phantom technicality.

success-envy.jpg

Rater look at the positives.. his team was only down by one, there was still another half to go and his players were finally starting to move the ball around, he did what “losers” do.. COMPLAIN!

Friends we’ve probably all been there…

* You were overlooked for that promotion and you were either mad or envious at the person who was promoted. Or maybe both! It may be tough, but wish them well as you ask yourself, WHY? Why was I looked over? Maybe it’s something you could work on so next time, you won;t have the same experience.

If this coach had concerned himself a little more on the actions of his own team, they could have easily won today’s game. The game did resume and ended in a 2-2 draw. But “Mr Envy” couldn’t handle loosing, so he bitched and complained and was out-coached. Even though he had better skilled players!

10 Steps To Rejuvenate Your Messy Home-Office
June 28th, 2008 by Chris De La Rosa

Not sure if it was due to my curiosity or the few free minutes I had while waiting for my programmer to respond to me on yahoo messenger, but I decided to do a search on Google for popular blogs. Whatever the reason, I ended up at a blog called, Dumb Little Man. What a great find.

I was reading through some of the posts on this neat blog when I came across one titled “10 Steps To rejuvenate Your Messy Home-Office” I believe it was a guest post, but nonetheless a great read.

Here’s an excerpt from that article (below you’ll find a link to read the entire article/post)

If you work from home, your home office is the place where you spend majority of your time during the day. If this space is a complete mess with all kinds of stuff piled up on your desk, you know that it’s doing nothing more than hurting your productivity.

Do you enjoy hunting for things under piles of paper? Aren’t you tired of torturing yourself when you can’t find that tiny but very important thumb drive because it’s buried? Most of us go crazy when we can’t find things and such craziness could be an everyday routine for a person working from a messy and cluttered home office.

I know you’ve been thinking about cleaning it up but have been constantly overpowered by fear, laziness and of course, procrastination. So it’s time to pull up your socks and get set to rejuvenate your messy home office.

You may click to continue reading the rest of the post : 10 Steps To Rejuvenate Your Messy Home-Office.

Before I head off to Toronto for the day…

Don’t be shy, you could be the winner of that ultrasexy t-shirt! Contest details reminder!

Enjoy the weekend.
